Okay. I did not actually make it, but you need basic coding knowledge to finish one. I am proud of myself for setting it up, modifying, and learning by hand, zero AI help. Even though my 2026 layout is not necessarily my own code, I still do a lot of tweaking and screaming (while doing so) which gives me more than half of the experience of setting up a website.

To be honest, I attempted and immediately abandoned Neocities last December because I do not have the mental capacity to re-learn HTML and CSS codes back then. Six months later, I picked it back up and is currently enjoying the process. This might just be another venture that I will abandon after weeks on hyperfixating on it, but for now, I will work as much as I still can.

The renewed drive to have my own space carved on the internet without being in the mercy of the tech overlords is what keeps me going. As traditional social media sites continuously force AI slop down our throats and flood us with a lot of things that most would consider a waste of digital space, I refuse to be buried by all the slop. Despite being Gen Z, I still want a space of my own, I still want to actually own something. Even when it's just a superficial intangible real estate.

Now, I need to be honest with you. I do not actually have a vision nor direction for my personal website. My initial thought, as of writing this post, is for it to become my digital journal. I just want a place to put all my interests on. But as I scroll through various personal websites from Neocities, I realized something. I actually do not want a lot of my private matter on the internet.

Yes I was a Tumblr girlie. I read back (and cringed) on all my blog posts from when I was still an angsty teen. And even if I talk about what was going on with my life back then, there is no personal identification that could lead it back to me. More than a decade later, that is still my stance on posting on the internet.

Maybe some day in the future I will know what my website will actually be for. I do not want it to be a boring corporate professional site. I want it to be whimsical and solely me. I want it to be a space I would love to stay in and just look around even into the future.
